First Post!

Well, it’s time to try the blog thing again, now that I actually have something to talk about.  Today is the first day of my stay on Nahant, although I am not actually moved in to my permanent house yet.  My parents and Gerilynn dropped me off after lunch.  It will be different living so far from home for the first time, but I can’t really complain.  This island is amazing!  The day has been rather slow, but you can’t really be bored in a place like this.  I met another early arrival, Carmel, and then  rode around on my bike a while to check out my future house and the library.  I got to go into the house because the people renting it out to us were there cleaning the place up.  It looks nice to me.  One fellow with a priceless New England accent showed me around.  The library is this old stone building.  It looks amazing.  It was closed for the holiday, but I still peeked into the window.

I ran around on the point where our school is too.  It is crisscrossed by little trails and dotted with lots of old military buildings mysteriously peeping out of the undergrowth.   There are pebbly beaches and rocky outcrops surrounding the place, and I took the skink out for a walk on the beach.  He wandered around while I built a stone-castle (there wasn’t any sand).  It’s been a good day.
